Workers Rights in Ontario are Under Attack

Greetings Sisters and Brothers,

We have begun our Regional Leadership Meetings in Ontario that discuss the upcoming threat to workers rights in our province and across our country.

In the U.S., they call these changes to workers rights, Right to Work. What these legislative changes actually do is; impoverish workers, take away their rights and weaken the unions that represent them.

On May 1, 2013, three Private Members Bills were carried through first reading in the Ontario Legislature. These Bills are founded on this American-style attack on workers and their unions, imported by the provincial Conservatives.

We cannot allow these Bills to pass and further weaken our labour laws. I ask that members contact their Members of Provincial Parliament to state they are against these changes (http://www.ontla.on.ca/web/members/members_current.do)

In Solidarity,

Sharon DeSousa
PSAC Regional Executive Vice-President - Ontario
