2013 PSAC National Health and Safety Conference
“Mental Health at Work – We Are All Affected”
On April 12 to 14, 2013, 300 delegates – health and safety activists from across the country – participated in the PSAC National Health and Safety Conference in Montréal, Québec. This year's conference theme was “Mental Health at Work – We Are All Affected.”Several dynamic speakers who are experts in the field made presentations at the conference:

Dr. Michel Vézina, a professor and community health physician, gave a presentation on a preventative approach to mental health problems in the workplace

Andy King, professor at McMaster University, and Esther Désilets, Quebec Federation of Labour, participated in a panel on Union Action on Workplace Stress

A panel on Bullying and Harassment included Lisa Addario, PSAC Legal Officer, Rod Noel, HRSDC Labour Inspector, and Sue Freeman, from the Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS )

Mary-Anne Baynton, a well-known consultant and expert on
workplace mental health, spoke about the new CSA National Standard on
Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.

Stéphane Grenier,
a retired Lt. Col. with the Canadian Armed Forces, talked about his own
personal struggles and the work that we can do to support people with
mental health disabilities in the workplace.
