PSAC encourages members to boycott Public Service Week

In light of the slow pace of negotiations with the new Liberal government, the PSAC is calling on members to boycott the government’s National Public Service Week to be held June 12-18 this year.

The Liberal government has yet to deliver on their stated commitment to repair their relationship with the public service and restore respect for public service workers.
That is why we strongly encourage our members to boycott National Public Service Week and to urge their co-workers to do the same.
We need to show this new government that we are united in our demands at the table.

A message from Robyn Benson on National Public Service Week

PSAC President Robyn Benson
As you are aware, National Public Service Week will be held from June 12 to June 18, 2016. This event is to mark the importance of federal public service employees and to recognize their service to Canadians. As we have done in the past, we are again asking you to strongly encourage  all of your members to boycott the event.
In the current climate of protracted collective bargaining  and uncertainty in labour relations, the relevance of such employer-sponsored activities is questionable.
Our Treasury Board bargaining teams have been at the table for close to two years, while our bargaining team negotiating with CRA has been at the table for over 40 months.
I believe that they deserve a clear message of support from us all.
In solidarity,
Robyn Benson
PSAC National President
